These days most of our time not spent with Jesus is spent with neighbors, talking, working, helping…
It’s been educational & therapeutic.
This morning as we are having church out on the porch, a neighbor says he has a song he wants to show us and proceeds to play:
Of all the songs, he plays the one that has been one of my hearts anthems.
A song that has seen me through different seasons of my life.
A song that in that moment, served as a reminder that He has all of my tomorrows in hand, even if some part of me seems determine to wonders how we will make it through another week.
The pre-programming to look at life through the lens of lack rather than abundance, is one I’ve yet to overcome in its entirety.
Day in and day out, I learn new ways, new truths, (new to me, not Him) that continue to change me in the middle of this season, rather changing the season already.
I have met so many kind souls, I’ve heard so many personal stories, I have seen God’s hand on us all…
I know He can be trusted.
I know because even as the doubt starts to creep up on me, He sends me encouragement through His word, through the music meant to honor Him, through total strangers He places along my way.
Still, I sit in the proverbial hallway waiting on my door to open, impatiently wondering how all of the pieces could possible fit together.
Wondering how anything could ever get resolved.
Wondering why everything seems to be taking so long.
I can’t see it. To me there’s no way out.
God has a very different take on the whole situation of course. He is not limited by anything but the limits I place on Him.
Just another reminder that too often we place our trust on something other than Him.
The Lord allows me to see more than I feel I should, and sometimes I forget that I don’t get the whole picture, just a wider view.
I cannot take leaps of faith based only on what I can see. I have to sit, rest, seek, regardless of what it looks like today or next week because my sight is not my salvation, Jesus Christ is.
My focus, my trust, my rock should always be Him, nothing else.
Thank You Lord for always bringing me from the edge of my dark thoughts and the things that haunt me back to You…
Thank you.
“I will sing of your love and justice, Lord. I will praise you with songs. I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home. I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them. I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil. I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride. I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me. I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence. My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked and free the city of the Lord from their grip.”
Psalms 101:1-8 NLT
